Changing your furnace filter will reduce your home’s energy costs

Your furnace filter needs to be changed at least every 3 months to ensure your filter and furnace continue to work efficiently. Filters collect dust, pet dander and debris particles as air passes through your furnace. If you do not change your filters, they will get clogged, causing your furnace to work harder. When your furnace works harder, it takes more energy to operate.
More energy equals more cost to you.
The eventual outcome of not changing your air filter, other than working less efficiently, is that it will stop working altogether. Your fan motor will work harder and cause the motor to overheat or even break.
Some signs that could indicate that your filter needs to be changed:
• Your home is dustier than before
• Higher energy bill
• A longer run time, less heat
• System overheats, a burning smell
• You’re getting sick, sinus congestion. Dirty air filters may trigger allergies
